038: Part 2: Choosing Your Word of the Year for 2025!
Welcome back to Part 2 of our three-part series, where we’re diving into the exciting process of choosing your word of the year and setting meaningful intentions for 2025!
So, you’ve gotten some clarity on what you want for the year ahead from part 1, now it’s time to lean into it. Choosing a word of the year can be a powerful guide, helping you align your actions with your goals. But remember, simply reading a life-changing book or listening to a great podcast won’t create change unless you put what you’ve learned into action.
I want to share a little about my journey with this practice. Back in 2022, my word was Breakthrough. Every decision I made that year came with the question: “Could this lead to a breakthrough?” I tried so many new things, creating photo ledges, designing dried floral arrangements, and even launching my website. At one point, I thought I might dive into wholesale and sell my creations to other boutiques or on Etsy.
But you know what? I realized I wasn’t passionate about any of it. That’s when I decided to zero in on my values, like connection, community, and creativity. What could I do that truly embodied those values? I reimagined my shed as a space that reflected connection, community, and creativity—and then, serendipitously, I discovered permanent jewelry.
My first backyard boutique event was a success, and soon my focus shifted entirely to permanent jewelry. Looking back, 2022 really was my breakthrough year.
Fast forward to 2024, and my word was Epic. To me, this meant stepping into things that scared me, embracing the idea of YOLO, and showing my daughters that they can do anything they feel called to do. Whether it was launching a business or pushing myself out of my comfort zone, it was about living life on my terms.
Now, as we approach 2025, my word is Aligned. I want to feel aligned in everything I do, whether it’s designing, spending time with my kids, nurturing my health, or connecting with my spouse. It’s about asking myself, “Does this align with my goals?” For example, if my goal is to lose weight, skipping my workout and eating a donut might not be the move!
Your word of the year is meant to guide you, not anyone else. It’s okay to get input from others, but ultimately, it has to feel right for you. Think about what your ideal day looks like in 2025. How do you want to feel? What values do you want to embody? Take some time to reflect, and let your word serve as your compass.
Pro tip: Use a piece of jewelry to symbolize your word of the year. Whether it’s a hidden message bracelet, a permanent bracelet, or a subtle charm, let it remind you of your intentions every day.
If you’re still stuck, don’t worry! The workbook includes three pages of inspiring words to help you find the one that resonates with you. Tune in to learn how to choose the perfect word of the year, and let’s make 2025 your best year yet!
Don’t forget: This is part two, so if you missed the first episode, go back and check it out. And stay tuned for the final episode of this series, where we’ll bring it all together. See you next time!

l together and talk about our:I am going to be putting out all that information in the next, next episode and also in the Facebook group and in your email. So moving on, this is all about choosing your word of the year. I don't know how you feel about this. I used to be and I've always really been like a big dreamer, you know, like I've always had big goals and, and I would make these big grand resolutions.
Like I would have like a page of goals that I wanted to accomplish. And sometimes it was just like way, first of all, to keep those top of mind, to have all these long winded resolutions was like nearly impossible, right? Um, unless I literally got it tattooed on my arm. So I don't know when I started this, but I know for sure a solid, like, I know for sure what my words were for 24.
Prior to that, I don't know if I really chose where the year, if I did, it was really loose and I didn't really, I kind of did it half ass, lack of a better term. So I really wouldn't like really keep it. You know, top of mind, you know, so keep that in mind, honestly, anything you do, just like I spoke with about it in my last, like, episode, you can read a book.
That doesn't mean it's going to change your life if you're not willing to take the actions to change your life of the things that you learned, okay? I know that so much just with, like, going to retreats and all the things. It's like, In the end, if I'm not willing to implement and take actions on actually achieving my intention or my goal, then I can't blame anyone but myself.
But what I learned in the past is like, I honestly, of course, would set these really large resolutions and goals and sure enough, like so unattainable or so hard to change all these aspects of my life all at once, right? And so I would set myself up for failure. So sure enough, I did. Of course I would fail.
And then I would feel like crap. And then I'd be like, why can't I do anything? I just can't seem to like, I have no willpower, like all that stuff. Right. And realizing it had nothing to do with me really. It had to do with my approach. Right. So I, then I don't even know where they came about with word of the year versus, you know, resolution or goals.
. So back to: had already explored a lot in: ties. They kind of started in: e. Right. So That happened in: ll the things. So starting in: ng for? So I started off with:Like dried florals and reese and gem garlands and. And gemstone hangings and, and gemstone boxes, like jewelry boxes and my jewelry and going full force of photo ledges. I made photo ledges. Like I made so many different things. I took pictures, all of all of them. I had an employee at the time that would kind of like just an independent contractor come in and do random stuff for me.
And so we, we created bouquets and we just went. All in and I had already like downsized my small shop. So my small shop was just filled with all my, because also it was a way to test out what would sell. Right. So I'm like, I'm going to go and like, I feel like maybe it's, maybe I'll really love selling wholesale to other boutiques, right?
my birthday. It was in May of:And then of course I would sell something here and there. And I had the Etsy and I'm just like, you know what? Like, I just feel like it's not really bringing me the joy. I felt like. I didn't like feeling forced to make something. I was more, I'm more of a person who like, I wanted to make it when I want to make it.
I don't want to mass produce something. So I found that like, I was starting to make a shop on fair. I'm like, I'm going to wholesale. And then once I started thinking about and actually sitting in with, which actually I talked about in my previous episode, is actually thinking about things that you want in your life.
This is where I was actually can take the big lesson from actually because I did not implement this at that time. I did not think of how that would make me feel. I just kind of looked at the overall and thought that would be kind of fun. Yeah. It'd be kind of fun to like be a part of like be in boutiques and things.
Cause I have purchased from merchandise lines so many years for my boutique. I'm like, Oh my God, that'd be really cool. And not really thinking the actions that I need to do on a daily basis to do that. Right. Like I would, Literally be making the same like Tony necklaces if someone wanted a 20 necklace order of the same necklace.
Like, do I want to really do that? Like, thinking about the actual actions that go behind this goal. And honestly, in the end, it took me, again, the action of putting everything on the website, spending all that time with photography and descriptions and doing the website and finally getting it up in May when I started working on it in, what, February?
Like, it took forever, it felt like. Get it on. And then it only took me not so, like, Do just fulfilling small orders on Etsy and my website for me to be like, no, I don't really love this. So then I was like, what am I missing? And this kind of goes back to when you think about word of the year, but you also just reflecting on what you didn't like the last episode, you kind of zero in on your values, like going through these questions.
And I remember going through this practice a few times in different masterminds and groups, like we do the things and whether we realized or not. We are making decisions in our life and doing things in our life based on our values. Okay. So for me, I went through a practice and like, I went through a practice the year before of zeroing into my values.
And it was really a deep dive that I hadn't done before. And so I really found that I want connection is one of my values. Like I just really crave it, need it. Thrive on it. I love cultivating it. Like I am like, and also creativity is one of them. Right. So I was like, okay, well, how can I like join these things and create something that really encompasses my values?
Right. So for me, creativity, sure. Check the box of like creating, right. When I was like, Shipping things off of like creating on my website and Etsy, but not really in the way I wanted to create though. It was like, okay, like I said, it was on demand. It was like someone was telling me I had to create this many of some on one item when really that's not really how I want to be creative.
So really in the end, it wasn't kind of what I wanted, but it was like playing a little bit into my value, right? Nothing about it was a part of connection. I realized I did not. Although I love online for certain things for me, it was hard for me to sell something to customers. I had no connection with like, you know, and I felt like it was just very, um, hollow to me.
It felt very hollow. And I'm like, gosh, I just need more one on one. I need more in person connection. Right. So at the time may, okay. I make some orders and fill some orders June. And then like, we get to like July and I told my husband, I'm like, we have a shed in our backyard. It's like, you know what? I don't want to redo the shed.
It just sits up there. Like, can I just like gut it and make it kind of a boutique and have like little events here, you know? And I was just, I think I was just craving connection so bad, you know? And so he's like, and community, I have to say. So I feel like in the end, I know that these big things, but especially I remember they mean like the three C's, right?
Connection, community, and creativity is like something I really, really was craving and still is really, really hardcore. My part of my Valley is right. So I started gutting this. Shed. And honestly, at the time, again, it was like therapeutic because it was just like, I would do it little by little. I'd wake up before the girls, I'd get out there and paint the shed.
I mean, I painted every square inch, the outside, the floor, the walls, everything, right? And so we tore down some things in there and I had him even like, my husband drywalled the ceiling and I painted the ceiling, like literally every square inch, hung a beautiful little chandelier in there, shelving, clothing racks.
I need to find some great pictures because it was actually really pretty. So I worked on it for a few months. And then I, I, through that though, through the process of doing that over the summer, I then started really hearing about permanent jewelry. And I'm like, gosh, what is that? Like, that sounds so awesome.
Like anything jewelry I'm like literally obsessed with. Like I, I just, you know, I have to know more. So it was basically probably August or September. I started looking into it and then I really, I think I received the machine in October of that same year, right? So you know, and I French ties it right away because my friend Ashley was like, sure, I'll be a French lawyer.
First franchise person. Well, and so like I trained her in November and here I was, I had my launch quote unquote, like my first boot back here, boutique party in October and I was telling everybody about this permanent jewelry thing. It was so funny because it's October of 22 and people were like, what is this?
Okay, yeah, sure. I'll have a party and I'm like telling these customers that came like about this. permanent jewelry thing I'm starting. So although it was a somewhat successful first round with the backyard boutique, I, I put all the clothing in there. There was a million, you know, I did all my handmade things in there.
I didn't, I had some drinks a little bit, you know, but nothing too big. It was like basically, um, it was all kind of in my backyard essentially. And then, um, I found permanent jewelry. And so of course my focus went away from the backyard boutique, but I did have one last event in February of 23. And I did have, because it was February, it was cold here.
Of course it was like an icy snowy day. I'm surprised people even showed up, but I did have vendors inside my house. I had like a tattoo and a piercer here and I had a tarot reader upstairs and had someone selling their like handmade pottery. And again, I don't have a huge house. It was just like so full.
I was doing permanent jewelry on my dining room table. It was a super fun event, but again, I love like creating things like that. Um, it was super fun. My vision for it was like, Oh, maybe I'll even like, How's book clubs here? And like, you know, I'm just like, I had this like grand vision of this backyard boutique, which again, the shed is not that not too big.
My point is my word of the year was breakthrough of that year. So to see what happened that year and how it developed and how by the end of the year I was doing permanent jewelry, which honestly, early on, I knew I would love so much and that I would just really like connects all these things. As I'm saying, if you want to go in the process of.
You know, again, going through and reflecting and what you're proud of, like these all bring up your values, you know, right? Like thinking about what do you really love? Like what do you, what feelings do you like? Like, you know, is it joy? Is it like, do you love to laugh? Do you love to, you know what I mean?
Like, what are you really, what, what, what do you do on a daily basis that tries to bring up these values? in you, right? And make them present in your life. So anyway, and then every, when I think about every step of the way of what I made in my decisions in my life or my business, it's all related to these things, right?
The things I value the most. And obviously family is high up there. Friendships, relationships, that's all connection. Like it's all like, these are things that are like most important. So yeah, breakthrough. And honestly I did it. have a breakthrough. I went through so many series in one year to bring me to a place at the end of that year where I'm like, yup, this is my breakthrough.
t was, it was I grew a lot in:I, I really tried everything. I already had started the franchise. I added two more girls to the franchise that year, but I was just learning. I was still so brand new and permanent jewelry. I mean, it really just started the tail end of 22. So I was growing my business like crazy. And my intention was so much around my business and growing it and seeing where that led me.
ntention was growing a lot in:That's when I started a event with a local influencer and we do now twice a year and that we had our first event at the end of 23 and that was super successful. And so it was just like really these intentional actions that again, were leading, you know, into again, my values and just kind of what my goal was that year, which was really to grow my business, really get myself out there in the community and just see where this goes.
s leads me. So it leads me to:Because I just loved, again, the community. I love entrepreneurship. I love supporting other women. I love like, you know, just kind of helping women grow their business, which I already done with my franchise. And I was like, okay, like I really love the idea of widening this to offer it to other permanent jewelers, making it affordable and offering these things that like, because I know how hard it is and difficult it is to do all the things in your business, right?
So just even have that support, have weekly calls where you have some connection and you know, all these things, right? So knowing I was going into and how I had, you know, was decided that I'd be at PJX and I would be there as a vendor and I'd be there as a speaker and like doing these first that I swore I would never do.
Like I swore I would never speak in front of a group of people. I don't even care if it's 10 people. I thought I would never do that ever, ever. As you can probably see, I like to talk, but if you know enough and you've DM me, I probably have voice memo. you back. Okay. So I'm a talker for sure, but talking in front of, Oh, like I literally used to skip classes in high school to avoid speaking in front of a crowd, like I'm kind of in front of my class and my peers.
o I knew that like going into:I want to say though your word, even if it's helpful to maybe bounce it off people, but this is keep this in mind. Your word is going to mean that word is going to mean something different to you than it does someone else. Like the word intention even is going to mean something different to you than as someone else.
So, and a lot of times there's obviously synonyms of the word, right? Like But that word might feel different to you. You know, happy, joyful. I don't know. Isn't that kind of around the same word? Maybe it's probably a synonym of the two, but like it honestly could mean something completely different to you.
Those two words. And that's really just, that's why it's such a gut feeling type thing. And to really like check in with yourself. Because for me, epic just meant like, you know, I even, I want to do things that just scare me, you know, like I had already gotten kind of used to that, but there were definitely things coming up that completely scared the crap out of me, you know what I mean?
Like, and I'm like, YOLO, you know, I think as I get older, I realized, you know, as like things happen in life, like I know that. It's just so precious, right? And I think that I want to show my girls more than ever. They've motivated me so much and inspired me because I want them to never be scared to do things that they truly feel is like in their heart, you know, and so, and feel like they have some, something of value or something they're passionate about, but they're just fearful.
So I think like, Me thinking about these things and me finding this part of my business that for once after being in business at that point for what, eight years, cause um, you know, having the boutique business prior and kind of going through ups and downs with that and trying to figure out where I land in that.
And finally feeling like I'm at a place where I'm like, I belong here. Like, this is my jam. This is like the handmade, the permanent, the connection, the personalization. Like, are you kidding me? This is everything that I love. And I literally have gone through a lot of ups and downs. Prior to this, this isn't like an overnight thing.
I just found permanent jewelry. I've been making jewelry for almost 20 years. I've been in business for 10 now at this time. Like I have gone through the ringer with myself and my self worth and all these things I've worked through and all the tears I've cried over like being an entrepreneur and the steps I've taken.
Like this isn't something I just, and I keep that in mind if you're just getting started and you're listening to me and you are maybe, you know, It's so funny. I was actually in DMs with an amazing girl who's probably gonna be on the podcast, but she's really young and she's like 20 years old and starting this.
And I'm like, I mean, I could technically almost be your mother. I think, I mean, yeah, I could. Right. Like, I mean, I feel like man, you know, like, so keep in mind for me, I have, I lived like a massage therapist prior to being an entrepreneur. And that was an entrepreneur. And then it was like, You know, it took me a really long time to feel like, and I was, but I was always in the search for it.
That's what I want to say is like, if you kind of feel like you're in that zone, if you're kind of searching, just keep going. Okay. I just want, I know this is kind of going off subject, but I feel like I just want to make that clear because I didn't just like start permanent jewelry. And then I was like, Oh my God, this is my jam and I'm going to franchise.
And I'm going to do it. It's like, No, it was a lot of like coaching, getting coaches myself and being a part of things and learning the hard way and getting into business knowing zero and learning along the way and a lot of times like falling on my face and being totally broke and picking myself back up and learning, learning, learning.
d again, when I talk about my:I was like, you know what? I'm so grateful. I'm so grateful for that because I would not be where I'm at if everything was so sunshine and rainbows and I had no appreciation or no gratitude for where I am now. And also just lessons I learned in myself. So just, just know that. And that's why it's so important to find a support group and someone who you can bounce things off of because entrepreneurship can be lonely.
tentional epic. So going into: s your ideal day look like in: Maybe. So in:Like, why do you want to do that? Right? So for me, one of my words I thought was going to be my word, I kind of like, you know, back and forth about was vibrant because I do want to feel, I talked about this a little bit in the last episode and one of the things I feel like I let go of a little bit and I've constantly struggled with.
in my whole life. I turned to food for comfort. I've always been an emotional eater. I've been as high as over 300 pounds in my life. I've been as low as 150 in my adult life. And I'm now somewhere in between. Okay. So I can talk like for five episodes long at 10 hour episodes about that journey in my life.
Okay. But I won't go, I won't go there. All you need to know is, is that's been a big struggle for me. It's so funny because I beat myself up and because I find myself very motivated and I put my mind to something, I do it. But when it comes to food, when it comes to my body, it has been the biggest struggle of my life.
And actually my husband and I went out to a date night actually recently and he brought it up and not in a terrible way by any means. Okay. He brought it up and I got emotional at dinner and I'm like, I don't know what it is. This is such a hard question. Part of me because I almost I still have this really hardcore shame when it comes to it because there's a lot of emotion tied Into this issue and it's like the earliest memories I have are like we're associated with food Okay, it brought a lot of comfort to me as a child and if you don't know you'll never know and that's why it's so hard and that's why I find myself I'm feel like I'm very I don't judge people and this is why because I have my Own struggle and I don't know what another person's struggle is and it's so hard You know, just sometimes understand other people's struggles and be like, why can't they just stop that?
You know, but also at the same time, it's like, holy crap. Like I, I know what it's like to struggle with something that seems so ridiculous. Like, oh my God, just stop, you know, but I am a very emotional eater and I tend to turn a food with everything. Whether it be stress, even in moments of celebration, like I'm like, let's eat boredom, everything.
Like I just find I can be addicted to sugar. I don't know. It's something I've always dealt with. It's been, my body has been something I, you know, have my own journey with. And so. Cool. Having said that, you know, in the past, I've always focused on a number when it comes to my weight. And I'm so, I'm against that at this point.
I've lived enough where diets numbers on scales. I don't care. I don't care. It's more or less for me. I want how I want to feel. And that's with everything. You know, even in business, I found that like, this is why successful people in business and can, can be unhappy, right? Like it looks like, Oh my God, they have everything.
They're millionaires. And, and like, they have this amazing life, what it looks like, but yet they're, they're depressed. Right. And not to say there isn't other, I'm not saying that's a very strong thing to say. And I don't mean to like touch any, like push any buttons when it comes to that. I know there's obviously chemical imbalances and things that go into play with depression.
I'm very aware of that, but I'm just saying is when they say money doesn't bring you happiness, like a number on a scale doesn't bring you happiness, like X, X, X doesn't bring you happiness, whatever it is. It's so true because in the end, I think we think in our minds, we're going to feel a certain way when we reach this number, whether it be on the scale or on our bank account.
And really when it comes down to it, it's like, Yeah. How do you want to feel? If I jumped on the scale tomorrow and I magically told me I lost 40 pounds, but I still felt the way I do sitting right here, would that change how I feel about myself? Because of a number on the scale? It literally just happened at the doctor's office.
Like I went there one day and I weighed X amount. I'll tell you the number one day. Just kidding. Do you care? And then I went back three days later and I weighed four pounds less. And it's like, Oh my God, like, should I feel really good about that? No, it's just more like I wasn't bloated. I didn't change my way of eating.
I wasn't eating healthy. Like, are you kidding? It was just like, that's what just happens. Cause the scales like that, right? So unless I was like really trying and like, of course, it'd be a sense of pride if I was feeling good. And I knew I was like making the right decisions with food and I was working out, but no, it just happened to be the scale told me I was four pounds less because I probably didn't have something that retained as much as salt.
Less the, you know, salt the night before. I don't know. Right. Like I didn't probably didn't have as much water that morning. Like it's fine. So in the end, why I want to basically a number on a scale or be a size, let's just say a pant size or, you know, put a number, put a, like a weight, a weight on it. It's because of how I want to feel like, and this is why like I like, Oh my gosh, there was a period of my life where I would work out three times a day.
So I would work out before I went to work, I'd go on the stair master at the gym. Um, and then during my Lunch break when I was a massage therapist and I worked at the New York, New York hotel, I would go on the roof of the hotel and run on laps around the roof during my lunch break. And then after I would go to kickbox class, I like would weigh myself every morning.
I kept it on like a little paper on the wall. And I did get in the best shape of my life, I have to say. And I got down, I remember I got down to like 160, okay. And I kept, I always had this number of 140 in my head. I was like, no, I'm gonna be 140, I'm gonna be 140. People are like, you look so good. I'm like, nope, nope, nope, I'm not 140.
Like, no, okay, I look okay. Like, I would never accept a compliment. Like, I'm like, no, okay, yeah, it's fine. You know, I would always just not take it in. Right. And, oh my gosh, I remember, and I was, one of my goals was to wear a bathing suit when we were going to the pool, getting a cabana in Vegas. Right. Cause when I lived in Vegas and so I did.
Right. And probably like the only time I wore a two piece, I'm not kidding, like in my adult life in public, like, I'm not kidding. That is like my journey with my body. Okay. Give you a little snippet. So, and then I remember like traveling a little bit. It was my birthday. So it was like May. I'm like, okay, I'm going to travel.
s, you know, wouldn't go over:I mean, I was psycho. Right. And you know how fast I gained that weight back? Like I was over 200 pounds by Christmas and that was in May to Christmas, right? I remember. And so again, I, cause at that time I was so focused on the damn number on the scale. It didn't matter. I wasn't focused on how I felt. I was focused on the number and that dictated how I felt about myself.
I wasn't like, man, Jen, you're in a really great shape. Oh, wow. Look how far you've come. I guess if I even talking about reflection last episode, this is why it's so important. And these are like, because what a shame, you know what I mean? What a shame that I did not see what amazing shape I was in and all the work that I put in and all those, Transcribed Like freaking hard, like what dedication I had, you know what I mean?
And for what? Because I was obsessed with the number and I thought for some reason 140, for some reason in my mind, 140 meant I would finally be happy with my body. How crazy, right? But I couldn't be happy at 158, 160, even though I looked amazing looking back. I'm like, God, it's like one of those things, right?
I don't know if you guys have been there, but it's like, Oh God, like, wow, I was so fat. And then you look back at pictures. You're like, Oh my God, I wasn't actually. Or you just thought a certain way and you look back at pictures and you're like, actually, I looked great. Like you just don't appreciate it.
And like, so it's so important to look back and like really understand and sit with how you feel and that why you think you're going to feel and having these crazy ass goals and you don't even understand what it's for, right? Like how are you going to feel if you hit a hundred K. What is that going to do for you and focus on that, because if you don't, and you're just focused on this number and then you get to the number and you don't feel that way, it literally is like causes anxiety, depression.
You're like, who am I? Why don't I feel this way now? Like nothing's good enough. Like, because you're just being so like robotic with it, right? There's no like real intention. You know, understanding why you want that, right? So in the end, that's why I talk about him with business and fulfillment. It's like, because being in business and making X amount of money prior to permanent jewelry, I, I mean, I got to a point where I was making decent money, but I wasn't happy, you know, and I wasn't fulfilled and there was something missing and which led me on this road, which wasn't exciting at the time, like I talk about, which I'm so grateful for now.
And, um, It wasn't exciting. It sucked at times. I found myself crying many nights. What am I doing? And also being in the throes of being, you know, with, you know, at two, two very, very young children, babies essentially, and like going through that phase and then you get out of it, right? It's almost like if you've been a parent or you are a parent, if you have been a parent, if you're a parent, you're a parent, you look back and people will tell you, Oh, they're going to grow up.
This is only a phase. And you might know it, But going through it doesn't help because you feel like, holy crap, I'm dying. I'm on zero sleep. This is the hardest thing. My baby won't sleep. It's crying every night. You know what I mean? Like, it feels like it's never, you know, and gonna end. But of course, if I were to tell anyone with a new baby, or if I were to go back and tell myself, this is just a season, this is just a season.
And it doesn't mean like even the season where I was so like up in arms about my business and what was I going to do with it. But I had, I was pregnant and had a newborn with a 20 month old. And I wish I would've just gone back and be like, Jen, just chill. Everything's going to be okay. Try not to freak out about it too much.
This is a season. This is a season. You're in this season. And there'll be another season, you know, and so this is why we're the year. So I love it because again, every year there is a new focus. You grow every year and you know, unexpected things could happen that backtrack you, but if you're like hopefully aware enough, you learn from those things too, even if they're tragedies that you didn't plan.

This is what
s your ideal day look like in:You know, like why, like why do you want to do that? And how does it make you feel? And going into further number one, I put, and this is on from the workbook. Okay. What would the best version of you do? How does that differ from how you just answered the first question? Because if it is, what is that telling you?
Like, what is it telling you what you're capable of? What you really, truly want? You know, if the best version of you, um, or did you already picture your best version of you of what your ideal day looks like? Right? Yeah. Just picturing, like I picture sometimes like my alter ego, right? Like someone who that's the best version of me.
Like you couldn't even name her. You know, I've done that in the past. Do I sound psycho? I don't know. Um, but yeah, like where it's. You know, you're kind of, it's almost easier to kind of embody someone else sometimes, you know, and like name her, right? Uh, it's so funny cause my daughter, this just brings me to Harper.
Okay. My oldest, she, we name her Elf for Elf on the Shelf. Her name is Lisa. Okay, so you know, most of your, if you have an elf on a shelf, you know, most like people like everyone we meet, they're like snowflake. I don't know, whatever. I'm trying to think of other things besides snowflakes. It's all fresh in my mind, but frostbite.
I don't know, except like they're all like these like fun names, right? Ours is named Lisa because when Harper was as early as I can remember, I probably, we probably got the elf when she was three. And she had just turned three, really, right? And we were like, what do you want to name the elf? And she loved the name Lisa.
And I'll never, it was around that time she would say, I want my name to be Lisa. And I'm like, what? Like, we didn't know a Lisa. Okay. We didn't know a Lisa in her school at the time. I asked her, I knew her teacher's names. There was no Lisa three year old in our class. Like, I'm like, who is Lisa? It makes you wonder, like, how the heck did she hear this name?
Like, I mean, at that point in her life, I knew everything we watched on TV. Like, so anyway, I always felt like that was like, she always wanted to be called Lisa when it came to things that we played. Right. So just kind of going back to being, you know, playing into who is your alter ego name? Just like Beyonce.
Who does she have? Sasha Fierce. That's like her alter ego, because if you've ever heard Beyonce talk, she talks about how she's introverted, which like, you would never. Yes. By seeing Beyonce on stage. Are you kidding me? But like, you know, it's just like her alter ego that comes out. And I think that's amazing.
at my ideal day feels like in:I want to feel like I don't wake up and I'm like, Oh my God, what am I doing today? Oh my God, like I got so many things to do. I want to feel like I've either outsourced and things are being taken care of that I know can be taken care of. Not just by me and by someone else, but possibly better as well. I want to feel, I don't want to feel scattered.
I don't want to feel waking up feeling stressed. I want to wake up feeling like knowing what's going on in my day. I feel good with the amount of work I have. I don't feel overwhelmed. I want to feel vibrant. I do. I want to feel awake. I want to feel good. I don't want to feel groggy. I don't want to feel like I, you know, I want to feel strong.
I want to feel like I, I want to get on, I want to do a workout that day because I want to and because I'm like, I'm feeling good about myself. And I know that with like what that is, you know, I want to feel my, I feed my body good things. because I didn't feel the pride in that knowing that I'm feeding it good things and not feeding it crap.
I want to cook more because I know what's going in my food and feeling intentional with that. And I want to feel present with my kids. I want to feel like I'm enjoying time with them. I don't want to feel like my mind somewhere else because that's playing into if I feel like things are being taken care of that I know can be taken care of by someone else and not feeling overwhelmed with work that I know like then I can then be more present with my family and not feel like, Oh my God, I should be doing this.
I should be doing that. Right. I want to feel connected, like more connected to my partner just because I do feel like parenting in this phase of parenting. And I think like, you know, and he's such an amazing, amazing partner, but I think if you've been there and you've been married for a while and you also have children and if you can relate to this at all, or even if you don't, you go through the motions of life.
And I do feel like that's something I want to feel a little bit more. Um, if I'm being totally honest, I just feel more connected to my partner. And honestly, you know, going into my best version of me, like that, I feel like this is the best version of me. Like when I'm talking about it, I'm like, I feel like this is someone who I would want to embody.
You know what I mean? Like this would be my alter ego, which I used to name my alter ego, Gemma. Because, because I love gems. And like I, so I would name her Gemma back in the day and I feel like that's could still stick. Although I want to like play around with that. What would your alter ego name be? I need to know.
Oh my gosh. Anyway, DM me, tell me yours. And then also like speaking of business in the business realm of this, I'm like kind of goes along with like what, but I want, of course, everything to be, Um, moving along, growing at a healthy, you know, and maybe even just not even like growing in this crazy way. I just want to be able to continue with my supplies, you know, offer and see what more and more you guys want and, you know, adding a couple more mama makers.
e some really great ideas for:I really want to create like somewhat of a women's business mastermind in my area. I would like to connect to the permanent jewelers in my area and kind of create some kind of community there, but I really want to zero in on more community. Um, I want to feel more connected. I actually feel like I also want to dip more into my, my spiritual health a little bit and along and that goes along with my self care, which I feel like I've already actually started a little bit when I talk about, you know, the way I'm eating and feeling vibrant.
I mean, that goes along with it. But I feel already I've been more intentional with my self care and like actually just doing these little routines that I've been playing and really just starts there. It's like starting with something small. I'm not saying next year, like when I say wake up and best year of my life, like I'm going to wake up January one and do all the things I'm saying.
But I do want to like start implementing these things and I've already started like honestly as simple as a skincare routine. I started doing that and actually invested in like a skincare line, that clean skincare line that I love. And, and I've always just been like, I'm a somebody who I am not, I don't feel like I'm stingy with my money, but I am when it comes to myself, which is crazy.
I can spend money on my business. Like no problem. Like, Oh, more beads, more gems. Start another, um, start something else in my business. Heck yeah. Like no problem. Buy more chains, you know, and sacrifice myself buying new shoes. Sure. But like when it comes to buying things for myself, I don't splurge. Like I don't really spend a lot of money, honestly.
So I think that like, I'm more, I want to be more aware of that. And like, as a person who I'm waking up in the best day, right. Or the ideal day, I should say, is somebody who takes pride in what they're putting on their body and feels like they're not wearing a t shirt they've had for 5 million years and has holes in it.
Somebody who actually is like, Taking care of themselves and feeling good about themselves in that way. And yeah, just, and, and really just really kind of a overall self care, getting quiet with themselves and really finding a great spiritual and possibly like small group around my area and letting, and kind of exposing that to my children as well.
So that's something that comes into play with my ideal day and like kind of what my life looks like. Um, but what I want to for sure accomplish and feel proud of is honestly when it comes down to it. Like I, for sure. Want to feel like I'm making every decision I make is reflecting how I want to feel.
ally aligned. Uh, my word for:What do you for sure want to accomplish? It's like, It's not really a monetary, like, although I have a monetary goal, right? And I'll share that in the next episode, but it's like, I don't want to, I don't want to say like, Oh, I want to lose 50 pounds or put these like words on it. Right. Like, are these, sorry, these numbers on it, although a monetary, I'm fine with putting it on that one because that is like a little bit more like, you know, but for the sake of like what I was saying before with like, when it comes to like X amount on the scale, yes, of course I feel like we should be specific with our goals.
That is like, the thing is I'm not going to be like, Oh, I want to lose weight. And I'm like, whatever and get healthy and then put a number on it. I don't know if that's right or wrong. All I know is that like the decisions I make, I want to feel aligned with those goals. So should I, could I put a number of it on it too to be on the scale?
Sure. But in the end, I don't want to feel like at the end of the year, if I was aligned with my goal and I didn't get to like 160 or something that I'm going to feel like crap about it because I was aligned with my goal. Right. So for me, if I were to put like an actual, like concise. Number or goal and say, say it, be clear.
Right. Cause you're just like, I want to make more money. I want to get fit. Like you're not really making these like very concise things. Right. Meaning like solid, like goals I should say. Right. But in the end, aligned is like meaning like, that's why this word is meant to guide you through your year.
Because if you are, do have these like goals of say, Say it is just realistically getting healthy and getting stronger and say it is losing weight because it's a common thing people go into the new year with. I mean, Jesus, it is very common. So it's like, let's just say that, right. And being my word aligned, it's like, okay, if I'm waking up and I'm like having a donut for breakfast and a sugary coffee, is that aligning?
With the way I just described my day and starting my day, no, right? So yes, I'm not putting this like hardcore number on it, but I am keeping, this is why it's so important because this is why I do like the word of the year because it's something that literally is so simple and, but you can literally base every decision you make on that word because that's your intention for the year.
So if I wake up and I, again, if I wake up, God, I hope I wake up. Um, when I wake up, if I am again, like going against all the things I really truly want for my life, like say I wake up and I just don't show up for an appointment. Is that aligning with growing my customer and creating more connection and like really, you know, serving my customer?
Well, no, I mean, that's pretty like plain and simple, right? So it's like really these decisions we make is kind of like going back to the word and being like, okay, this is, does this really reflect my word of this decision I'm making? Right. When it comes to my word, it actually encompasses a lot. And that's the thing.
It's not like this goal where like, yes, aligned, aligned for me means aligning with time with my kids. It means aligning with my monetary goal. It means aligning with where I want this business to go. It means aligning with my health and my fitness goals and just how I want to feel in general and feel strong and healthy.
I want to like, there's so many things I'll be sharing a lot with you in the coming year. I think I'll make more personal episodes just personally, like my personal journey, because I am embarking on a different part of my business next year. And so I will be sharing literally like all the whole journey, because if you ever are in the same boat, it'll be helpful hopefully.
isode as I talk more about my:Like you have your word of the year and then you have your dropdown menu. Like, what does that mean to you? Right? If you choose a word, It obviously encompasses all these things. And within those things, you can create more concrete like goals, right? Like monetary number wise. Yes. I, I totally highly advise you to, because otherwise it's so open ended.
I love, like I'm actually just teaming up with women to do a fundraiser for a dear friend. And we, and I had it on my mind. That I wanted to make a goal for this fundraiser and how much we would raise and, but I was like, God, it's a fundraiser. Is that weird for me to create like a monetary goal around that, but I just feel like I want to.
And then someone else said it and I was like, I was going to say that, but I was like, I wasn't sure. I just feel like I didn't want to make it like some like business goal. I was like, it's a fundraiser, but still, obviously it makes sense to have goals and it's just motivating and it's something to work for.
Just being like, if we were just to say for this fundraiser, like, Oh, we just want to raise a lot of money. Well, what's a lot of money? Like what would be helpful with this fundraiser because this fundraiser is going towards an amazing cause. So it's like, obviously it's only serving a good thing. So we should have a goal around that just like you should have a goal around your business because it's also an amazing thing.
So yes, completely within that making very like concise, but again, It can be goals. I'm not against goals and resolutions, I guess you should say, but I, I feel like what makes it attainable for me is that the fact that I have this word that encompasses all the things that I want to do. And that way I can just refer back to it.
Like it's always top of mind. It's easy. Honestly, I wore it in two different places on two different bracelets. I have it stamped on a connector epic from last year and I have a stretchy on right now. It's a hidden message one. I talk about this in the workbook because if you do want to keep it fresh for you, you know, piece of jewelry, obviously, as you know.
Hello, we're permanent jewelers is a great way, whether, you know, just, you're putting on a new chain that, you know, the intention of that chain is that that's what's so great with permanent jewelry. And as you can, of course, just even pass this on to your customers, if you want to talk about word of the year or talk about like all these things going into January is like, even though you don't have to have the actual word on it, it can just be knowing the intention behind getting this new neck, this new necklace, this new bracelet, whatever is your intention.
Intention or word for the year, you know, so I have a hidden message line on the website collection on the website and Basically, it's a word or anything. You'd like quote whatever spelt out with gemstones So mine says epic E is emerald P is pink tourmaline I is Iolite and C is what I use for C carnelian So it basically is It's, you know, the first letter of a gemstone's name spells out your word.
It's really cool because every, of course, you know, I love gemstones. So I'm obsessed, but also it's just like, it kind of creates this beautiful bouquet of random gemstones, which is just so beautiful. And then like for a couple of different letters. Like A, for example, there's three different options. So if you did want amethyst, for example, because that's your birthstone and you like amethyst over this one, like there's a little bit of options there.
But anyway, so there's so many things you can do. As you mean, you know, as permanent jewelers, you can even say like a connector using the first letter, uh, letter connector, first letter of your word can be, you know, meaningful to you and you just know that. So when you're looking at it, it can be a reminder and actual, again, actually having the word on you.
whether it be engraved or stamped on a connector, right? Um, hidden message, Morse code, like, there's a lot of different ways. Um, lockets, if you're into lockets, I mean, you can definitely put something in your locket, you know, if you have it around your neck and things like that. So there's a lot of different ways or, you know, just even just some symbol that for you means that, you know, this is all personal to you.
So whatever you feel just to keep it. Keep it close and rather than having these like, you can't wear a list of goals around your wrist. I mean, I don't know. You could try, but that way, if you just have this word that encompasses all the things and that, you know, make sense to you. And then that way it's easier to let that direct you in making your choices and being like, you know, cause literally.
Our life is made up of choices, right? My, my husband always says that. I think his dad said it too, but which is where it comes from, but life is choices. He's always like life is choices. And it's true because all these choices lead up to where we are now, right? So that's why this word is so helpful in me making your choices when it comes to simply down to what you eat.
How you're spending your time, you know what I mean? What you're putting on your body. These are choices, right? And how is it going to make you feel? And how is it going to go towards further or closer to your goal of to where you want to be, of where you imagine your ideal day is? Who do you, you know, like who, who do you want to be?
cribe how you want to feel in:Good to you. You know, um, that's an option because I have so many words because again, different words are going to mean different things for different people. You know, like I can just integrity, tenacity, hopeful, creative, grounded, calm, simplicity, hustle, wander, badass, heal, fearless, surrender, bloom. Like there's so many words that just like you could read it and be like, Oh yeah, that feels good to me.
Alignment, which was obviously similar to mine, it's also funny because I actually first was going to do alignment. And then to me, I was like, no, I want it to be like aligned. Like I'm already aligned. Like I'm making these decisions because I am aligned, you know? So it's like these little things, right?
These tweaks that make a difference that feels better, you know? Um, evolve is a great one. And I'm sure that's going to be true for a lot of you. Um, abundance, right? What does abundance mean to you? And that can mean something different. You know, to people, even wealth can mean something different to different people.
We talk about success. Some people go right to a certain vision of success, what that is for them. It doesn't mean that success for someone else, right? And when I talk about success, I, we, I think as a society, we write, go right to like money, right. Or making a certain amount of money. Like that's a success, right.
But maybe that's just in my mind, but to me it's like, you know, success, you know, I've learned over the years, right. Is really truly living how you want to live, like having freedom, doing, doing what you love, like, Actually, you know, loving your life, you know, and that doesn't mean just monetary. That means a lot of different aspects of your life, right?
Extraordinary, daring, clear, trailblazing, open minded, best, committed, awesome, bright, great, awareness, healthy, limitless, overhaul, stellar, warrior, entrepreneur. Tenderness. Believe. I mean, there's so many. Marry. Magical. Anyway, there's really, and even if it comes down to a quote for you that is feel like it's, you know, short and sweet and you want to keep that top of mind and you can base kind of like what you want your over, you know, arching goals to be for that year is encompassing this quote, then that works for you too, right?
So that's whatever you feel. And then what areas of your life matter the most to you right now? Is it health, relationships, career, creativity? So understanding those helps you focus your energy and avoid distractions from the less important areas. So, you know, as you know, like your focus probably 10 years ago is not your focus now.
Can we agree to that? I mean, I'm hoping, I'm assuming that's the case, right? 10 years ago, I did not have kids 10 years ago. I was just starting a business. I didn't know anything. I was getting out of massage therapy. I was nervous. Actually, 10 years ago, I was still doing both. Actually, I was a massage therapist and a business owner, not knowing a thing growing so much, you know, just honestly, I was in the unhealthiest part of my life with being the highest weight I've ever been.
I mean, I was a very different spot in my life. Very, very different. So my focus back 10 years ago is not my focus today. And obviously I have a family now. I have kids. I mean, I, my focus is, I have a totally different life when it comes to my business and just overall really so many things, right? Um, I've learned so much in 10 years.
So every year you might have different, like, that's what I'm saying before with like seasons, you know, when it comes to understanding and not trying not to compare yourself to anyone else because everyone's in different seasons. Everyone's in different phases of their life. Everyone is just, you know, even when it comes down to fellow permanent jewelry businesses, you know, understanding if you feel like you see they're doing something and you're like cringing, you're like, Oh my God.
But in the end, it's like you, we've all done stupid stuff and we've all been beginners. So it's also, also having empathy and a little bit of like, okay, You know, that it's, they're all, we're all on our own journey. You know, we are all on our own journey and understanding that. Right. We all have, um, last year I feel my focus was, and even the year before was more on my business.
Like I was very, when I, when I chose the word intentional and you know, last year epic, it was more or less for me. It was about business because I knew I was like jumpstarting it. I was in the beginning first couple of years and I was just like feeling so passionate about so many areas. Now going into with being aligned, it's encompassing a lot more for me and not to say everything like if your focus is more business, it doesn't mean your focus isn't on your family.
I mean for me, I knew that growing my business is only going to improve my relationship with The people around me and my family, because a monetary, you know, of course, money and freedom and what I can offer my kids and whatnot. Sure. But also the time that it's going to lead to, if I'm growing this business, I imagined in my head and growing hard towards it and having this vision of what I feel it's creating and growing a legacy and feeling like my girls can be a part of it.
And there's so many other things that come to it. Yes. My focus is on my business, but my business bleeds into my life and vice versa. So I knew that like this, this epic year. that I was like getting into that I knew that that was like my, my word of the year was not just because, Oh, epic business. Screw my family.
No, it's epic business. That's leading into the success and what's possible in my family and what to show my girls and all the other values that are kind of come from that. So now leading into this new year with aligned, I have to say now that I've kind of grown it to a place where I feel really great about, it's more or less.
kind of perfecting those things, feeling aligned with like knowing how I want this to like function and the member, the supplies and the membership and the podcast and systemizing and feeling aligned with this feeling of knowing these things are running and running well and outsourcing what I need to and feeling like I'm not overwhelmed and feeling like I'm maintaining what I have and improving what I have.
And. It's not about growth, growth, growth, growth, growth, because I feel like that was so much a part of this epic year and now it's perfecting it and it's serving better. And in the end, that's going to create growth, right? But it's not, it's not like full, full, full force ahead, right? It's like now I perfect it and I stay aligned and I want to focus more, a little bit more on myself and feeling aligned and feeling better about just my health and how I feel.
And that's also going to bleed into my business. Again, it all bleeds into one. If I feel better in my body and my, my, I'm feeling stronger and I'm feeling more vibrant. Of course it's going to play into my business, right? So and lastly, if you want to focus on one thing for the entire year, what would it be?
ing of pride be at the end of:And then you go on to choosing your word and what daily, and this goes into action. Because again, choosing your word is great. Exploring everything. We already did so many things with exploring, going back into our year, reflecting. And finding out what we were most proud of, finding out what we weren't maybe so proud of, what we need to improve on.
We did all this already. Okay. So we've done a lot. What's your ideal day? All the things, identifying, dreaming your vision. So now it's about action, right? Because again, you can read a book. It's really cool. It's inspiring. You might have learned a couple of things, but if you don't implement it, it means nothing.
all next episode is all about:And then lastly is my, my question on the workbook was how do you keep your workbook Uh, word at the top of your mind, which again, I go into just different options of jewelry or, I mean, honestly, if you want to go as far as getting a little tattoo, I mean, cool. I kind of like, it would have been cool to start, so I'm going to still do it.
But I was like, when I started doing word of the year and being really intentional and really, again, not just choosing my word and then just being, okay, it's my word and like not really thinking about it or being really actionable towards it and keeping it top of mind, I kind of feel like I should have started some kind of tattoo on my body and keeping a list of my words and seeing how long that gets, right?
Yeah. Starting it on the outside of my leg, all the way down, starting at my hip, all the way down my leg, on the outside, just going with my words, and wouldn't that be cool? Kind of an idea. And so, yeah. Anyway, okay, I think that's it for today. So, do you know what your word is? Again, we can jump on the Zoom call.
Don't feel rushed to also, I, I do put some like little tips in the workbook, too, of like, take your time, all the things. This might be something you can, because if you've experienced these questions or asked yourself these questions before, it might be a little bit easier for you. But if this is your first time, it might take you a little bit of time, and you might write it down, and then come back and think about it, and just kind of like, have it in the back of your mind for a couple days, and then Go back and like, you know, edit and so this might take you a week or two, it honestly will use it as a practice of the whole month of January.
If you want to, it doesn't have to be something you do immediately. Take your time because the more clarity you have, the better, the more clarity you have. That way you won't have problems making decisions really, you know, too much in your business, right? It'll just be like, no, these are my goals. This is where I want to go.
So I know that this decision is going to lead me in that direction. So yes, it's a, it's a easy yes. Whereas if you don't know where you're going, then it's gonna be really hard for you. I'm really difficult to make simple, honestly, simple decisions speaking from experience. So just using and the more clarity you have and the clearer your year and your decisions will be.
